Fxstra Review

Posted by DeMerchant

Fxstra is a real time browser application that offers real time futures, commodities, foreign exchange information charts, and news and weather data. It has very solid feed and is very accurate. The time of execution is very fast and the results are generally reliable. Another service called Fxstra Platinum is in the market and is gaining popularity. The browser base application combines quotes and charts in Web environment. Fxstra users can upgrade to the newer version or choose to stay with this one. There is no extra cost for up gradation.

The service is actually stored on FutureSource’s servers which act as a backup for the user. Thus any technical problem will not result in any loss of data.

Fxstra provides real time quotes form around 40 worldwide exchanges, real-time interactive tick charting, full options coverage and news feed. The product is globally available to traders, brokers, and also risk managers. Future source also sells it to companies that want to private label it. Since it has a container based design, it looks more of a windows based application rather than browser based application. It includes features like real-time streaming updates to price data, providing a dynamic display, easy to comprehend data, user friendly interface which is both innovative and intuitive. It includes fully customizable visual presentation and color coding for up and down ticks. It can alert as soon as there is some change in market activity so that user can take decisions accordingly. The charting software is excellent and is very refreshing. Charts are implemented through very powerful java technology. These charts acts as powerful analysis tools that allow contract analysis customized to their exact specifications.

Fxstra platinum requires a PC that runs in windows 982000XP.  Running the platform on different versions than these can result in performance lesser than expected. As already mentioned charts are very powerful tool and are an important constituent of any trading software. Fxstra helps in easy creation of chartable expressions. The ticks are continuously fed in the charts and powerful trends such as Gann Fan, Fibonacci Fan, and Fibonacci Retracement are very powerful. There is plenty of choice available in terms of Tick, Intraday, Daily, Weekly or Monthly time series with data expressed in Bar, Line, Candlestick etc. The news provided by the platform is very essential as it helps traders to make real time decisions. The news consists of real-time content by OsterDowJones Commodity News. There is a powerful search feature which helps in searching news quickly. There is also a keyword filter which brings only the desired news content to the desktop. Fxstra was initially priced at 90$ plus taxes. The software delivers all that it promises. The ability to write one’s own indicators and customize them scores well with customers. The thing which is missing is ability to turn on and off the overnight session on the e-minis and the ability to change the background color other than white. At this price range there is no software that even comes closer.

  1. Keith Said,

This might sound like a small thing to comment on, but it is actually very useful to have a charting feature which is java-based. Surprisingly enough, many market programs don’t offer this, instead offering only static charts that are updated every 15 minutes or so. Of course for the active trader 15 minutes might as well be 15 years. It’s so important to have lightning fast data and the ability to pull and manipulate charts on the fly. Java is great because it usually allows you to grab and spread segments of a chart, often times narrowing down to seconds or even milliseconds. Then you can see slight fluctuations that can alert you to emerging opportunities or danger signs.
