CQG/NET Review
CQG is a Database, Market Data & Analytics, stock trading platform. It is efficient and easy to handle. It offers a real-time graphic-enhanced quotation system with an accurate historical database. It provides sophisticated and reliable market data including: U.S. and international futures and options, equities, cash data for foreign exchange. CQG also features some of the important news of DOW jones which others do not. It also tell us about the international debt securities, energy, metals, and government/industry reports and indices. CQG/NET means full functionality of CQG via the Internet.
CQG/NET gives the traders a real-time view of the ever changing global markets and the power of CQG Technical Analysis with a PC or mobile laptop. Together with timely, accurate and reliable data, one of CQG’s best-known features is its ability to analyze data in a variety of ways. To do all this only a high configured pc with suitable internet connection and CQG/NET service. CQG/Net provides great levels of flexibility and strength for CQG. Some of the essential feature of CQG/NET are that it permits each CQG client to log on out at his own convenience. There are no limitations and rules against this. Every client gets real time data which he can analyze and then take some actions and plan his move.
Every client can access the server from any remote location provided there is connection to the net. The system is built such that it supports redundant servers. If a single CQG/NET server fails the connection is automatically made to a different server and the client’s connection and data is transferred there. Thus it enables safe and easy transfer and functioning of data. The system uses standard TCP/Ip based protocol and resolution services. Since CQG/NET is a real time, mission critical application it is recommended that all the work which includes client software and working directory be made on local drives, thus protecting data.
To ensure that all the things run smoothly, the system or pc should not enter a state of hibernation while connected to CQG/NET. It is DDE compliant and can even work with coordination with software such as Microsoft excel and visual basic. It requires approximately 1kb/sec sustained and an average off 2kb/sec additional bandwidth for burst mode access. All the traffic between clients and servers use TCP protocol. It supports Network address translation as the firewall configuration. CQG/Net cannot operate through a normal proxy. One must use a proxy that supports Winstock redirestor such a Microsoft proxy 2.
The pros of the stock trading software are that it provides a solid data feed, most of the bells and whistles one can expect from charting packages. If ones is seriously looking towards trading this is the best software available. Only thing that goes against it is is slightly costlier than other products. Backtesting costs an extra $250/m. There is no way to the user cancels, he has to pay for the next 30 days. But still it is good and recommended for a high volume scalper. As always the new versions 7.7 are excellent and like previous versions give their clients time to make their decisions.
It doesn’t get any easier that CQG, and that is what I have been telling others even though not everyone agrees. For me, this is a really easy analysis to use and it helps that it looks at all the markets available in real time.
I like that there is so much that you can do with the functions that are available and that the analysis and data transfer is so powerful. Being that it is so powerful, it is important to have a very good computer, as well as a great connection, because it will slow down the rest of your work. I keep the program running independently of anything else I am using or doing.
A new development with CQG is the ability to track markets from anywhere in the world with the help of a BlackBerry device. This is a pretty awesome feature, especially for people (like me) who are constantly on business trips all over the globe. Now I don’t even have to open up my laptop to see how my trades are going from minute to minute! Best of all, it’s currently free for current CQG IC customers and Blackberry subscribers, though it would appear that they might start charging in the near future. Still, I wouldn’t mind paying a small monthly fee for this worthwhile service.
