I have to agree with Joey in the sense that keeping it simple is usually the most productive way to trade. When things get too complex and you start incorporating too many programs, indicators, and charts then bad things tend to happen. Just find a few favorite technical signals, learn them inside and out, and let them tell you what to do. Take your ego and emotions out of the calculation completely. AbleTrend is great in this regard because it can be configured to be as simple or complex as you want it to be. It’s a fantastic tool for the serious investor, and the real-time version is the only way to go if you’re very active.

I currently use Able Trend End of Day because I have another program that I like just fine for trading during the days. Still, Able Trend is able to break everything down for me nice and pretty after hours when I have a little breather time to take a look at charts and compare.

Someone asked why you would pay so much for this program and then still need other programs and that is really plain and simple. When you get to try so many different stock trading programs, you will see that there is no single program that will give you everything you need and want.

I am actually thinking of switching over to AT Real Time and I think then I will be able to drop one software program. I hope I will be making the right choice though.

From reading your software review and a couple of the comments posted to this blog, I get the idea that it is not the best all around software out there. If it was then why would you need to run it with other programs? Especially with the cost involved.

There seem to be mixed reviews on this one, both from here and from colleagues of mine who either give AbleTrend rave reviews and high recommendations or a total thumbs down.

Just from reading this though, the real time option is probably my best bet. Even though I trade after hours sometimes I want to have the real time feature for those times I will be needing it.

Hi Joey,
Thanks for the question. Most of what I write about stock trading software comes from discussion on BigWaveTrading.com and I have never heard anyone dissatisfied with AbleTrend. I know most of them use Telechart, but speak of AbleTrend very highly. Personally I have found AbleTrend to be a great tool, and think that at the very least it merits you giving it a try because of the relatively small cost of giving it a try, and the disproportionately larger possible benefit.
Hope that helps,
Justin

I have been trading for a while (will be 10 years) and went thru analysis paralysis using many techincal charting packages. Like everyone else I have also invested many $$$ in reviewing certain packages. I used Omnitrader, Metastock, QP2, AIQ, etc just name a few, oh and of course Telechart 2000 or 2007 now. Currently I use TC2007, StockCharts.com (which is my favorite) and am thinking of adding AbleTrend. I see that you used or do use it and I read your review on it. I was just CURIOUS if you STILL DO USE IT and did you find it assisted you with your current method of trading.

I went from trying to find the Holy Grail, as everyone does, and found that the simpler you keep things the better. In order for me to realize that I had to actually quit trading for a brief period and clear my head of everything I had learned and start over. I currently use just a few indicators such as the DMI, CMF, ADX and Parobilic SAR and I let the chart do the talking. Listen to the chart and do not fight it or make try to make it what it isn't!

I am kinda looking at this product as an aid to my current trading method because one thing I do not want to do is change my current methodology.

Your thoughts on this product would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I used AbleTrend Real-Time with eSignal for a while, but then upgraded to AbleTrend Real-Time with data feed and dropped eSignal completely... best decision I've ever made
